Websites for a caterer

A caterer's website has to answer one question first: can you feed sixty people on that date. It needs your menus, a price per head, and a short route to an answer. Posato is a service that rebuilds the site you already have, with the asking, the intro call and the back office all part of it, and nothing goes live until you approve it.

What a caterer's website needs

Nobody picks a caterer from a photo of a grazing table. Most enquiries start somewhere else: a venue's preferred-supplier list, a colleague who ate your food at a company lunch, or a search for catering in a city. The visitor is checking whether you are plausible for their party before they type anything. Four pages carry that:

  • what you cook and how it reaches the table, drop-off, buffet or staffed, written in Dutch and English where you feed expat offices
  • a page about the kitchen and the people, because someone is handing you their wedding dinner
  • a price per head for your standard formats, a from-price rather than "on request"
  • a one-minute way to put a date and a headcount in front of you, at eleven at night

Menus change per season; the pages that decide it are plain. Google, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity field the question of who caters for forty people in Rotterdam, and they read those same pages.

How people ask a caterer about a date

A quote does not exist until you know four things: the date, the headcount, where the food is going, and what people cannot eat. Headcount is the one that moves. A wedding booked in March for sixty can be seventy by September, and the last changes land in the final week. The form collects all four at once.

  • an enquiry form carrying name, email, phone and a message, with the date, the headcount and the dietary requirements written into that message
  • a free 20-minute intro call that is a bookable service in its own right, on hours you set, with a buffer behind each one
  • a tasting as a paid slot of its own, an hour on a Thursday
  • every enquiry drops into your inbox and answers itself with an automatic reply, so nobody is left waiting

There is no date field on the form, so the date arrives in the message. That is also where allergies and halal or vegetarian counts land, in their own words.

Quotes, enquiries and a free intro call

Catering prices get decided in a conversation, not on a web page, so the website's job is narrower: make the asking take a minute, and give someone twenty minutes of your Thursday. Both cards below show what that means for a customer.

They write, you quote

Four fields: name, email, phone and a message. The date, the headcount, the venue and the dietary requirements all go into that message, in the customer's own words. It arrives in your inbox, an automatic reply goes back to them, and the price comes from you after you have read it. No card is asked for and no calendar is shown.

Twenty minutes before the quote

The call is a service like any other: a set length, hours you choose, and no price. Open Thursday mornings for calls and leave your Saturdays out of it. Whoever books gets an instant confirmation, your schedule fills in without you, and a buffer behind each call stops three of them landing in a row.

Moving a catering site off Wix, Squarespace or WordPress

You send the address of the site you have now, on Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or the one-page menu PDF a friend put online years ago, and we rebuild it on a private preview link. Your current site stays live until you approve the new one, and the three steps sit on the home page.

What a catering website costs with Posato

While the beta is open there is no subscription and no build fee. If every job starts as an enquiry, you pay nothing, since the 5% commission only applies to money that moves through the site. A tasting or a fixed-price lunch drop carries it. Everything else is answered in the questions on the home page.

Questions caterers ask before switching

Can the site take a deposit to hold a date?

No. Posato has no deposits and no split payments, so a date is still held the way you hold one today, on trust and on your own invoice. The site carries the asking and the quote, not the money up front.

How do dietary requirements reach me?

In the message. The enquiry form has name, email, phone and a message, and no separate dietary field, so a customer writes "twelve vegetarian, one gluten-free" in their own words. That reads better than a checkbox anyway.

Can I sell a fixed-price package as well?

Yes. A fixed-price format can be sold as a paid service, priced per person or as a flat rate, with group-size rules and add-ons. That package and the enquiry form share one site, so a quoted wedding and a Friday lunch drop both fit.

The headcount changes after someone has paid for a package. Can I fix that?

From the back office. You can refund part of what they paid, or all of it, from the same screen as the booking, and you can move the booking to another date. Cancelling gives you ten seconds to undo it.

Send us your catering website.

We rebuild it with booking built in and send you a preview. You approve before anything replaces what you have.

Free while in beta. A 5% commission on payments taken through your site. That is how we make money.

Two fields. Your link and email go to the founder and nowhere else.
