A diving website needs three things: the trips and courses you actually run, the places left on each one, and a way to pay for a place before the boat fills. Posato is a service that rebuilds the site you already have with all three built in, and you approve it before anything replaces what you have.
What a diving website needs
Someone who wants to dive next weekend arrives with a short list of questions, and they are not the questions an about page answers. Which dive site are you going to, what certification do I need for it, is there gear to rent, and is there still a place on the boat. A contact form answers none of them until you reply, and by then they have booked with the centre down the road. Four things do the work:
the dive sites you run to, and the certification level each one asks for
the dates you are actually going, and whether a place is left on each
what a place costs per person, and what gear rental adds
a way to book that does not have to wait until you surface
Photos of the water matter here, because nobody can picture visibility in the Oosterschelde from a paragraph. Ask Google, ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity where to dive near Zeeland and those four look for exactly what a diver looks for.
Booking a place on a dive
A dive is not an appointment in a diary. You go out a handful of times a month, the slack tide sets the hour rather than a weekly timetable, and a guide can only take so many divers down. A link that books one appointment at a time cannot count places on a deck. Posato starts from the number of divers you can take:
a place count per trip, which shuts the moment the last one is taken
the hours you open each weekday, per trip, so shore and boat dives differ
blackout ranges for weeks the boat is on the hard, plus single dates
a booking window, so a trip appears a set number of days before it runs
price per person, group-size rules for buddy pairs, gear as an add-on
Every booking arrives in your back office and lands on your schedule without you typing it. The diver gets a confirmation email you never wrote. Whoever paid cash at the club evening, you add by hand.
Paid places on a dive, or course questions
A diver booking in on Thursday for Saturday wants to settle the place there and then. Course questions are a slower conversation, usually someone working out what they need before they can join. The two cards show each one.
The place is paid for as it is taken
A diver picks a date, pays through Stripe, and there is one less place on the deck. When the last one is gone the trip takes nothing further, so you are never standing at the slipway with nine divers and eight sets of tanks. Call the dive off for wind and you refund from the same place you see the booking.
A diver asks before they book
A diver unsure whether their certification covers the dive, or someone who wants to start a course, fills in name, email, phone and a message, putting the dates they are thinking of into the message itself. You get it in your inbox, an automatic reply goes back so they are not left waiting, and you answer once you know what they are qualified for.
Moving a dive centre site off Wix, Squarespace or WordPress
You send the address of the site you have now, on Wix, Squarespace, WordPress or anywhere else, and we rebuild it on a private preview link. Your current site keeps running and taking messages until you approve the new one; the three steps and what they cost you in time are on the home page.
What a diving website costs with Posato
While the beta is open there is no subscription and no build fee. When someone pays for a place through your site, we take a 5% commission on that payment, so a winter with the boat out of the water costs you nothing. The rest of the answer is in the questions on the home page.
Questions dive centres ask before switching
Can the booking form ask for a certification level and a medical statement?
No. Neither has a field on the booking form. You check the card and the statement at the dive site, the confirmation email tells the diver what to bring, and anything you need to know beforehand goes through the enquiry form.
What happens when the last place on a trip goes?
That trip shuts and takes no more bookings from the second the last place is claimed, so two divers never hold the same spot. Take one extra along and you enter that diver as a manual booking.
The wind picks up and I have to call off a dive. What then?
In the back office you call off each booking on that date and refund it whole or in part from that same screen, with ten seconds to undo. You set the deadline for cancelling, the penalty past it, and a short grace period right after booking.
Can I charge for rented gear without making it a separate product?
Yes. Gear goes on as an add-on, priced per person or per group, so a diver who brings nothing pays for a suit and cylinder on top of the place, and one who owns their kit does not.
Send us your dive centre website.
We rebuild it with booking built in and send you a preview. You approve before anything replaces what you have.
Free while in beta. A 5% commission on payments taken through your site. That is how we make money.
